Investment Plans

Developmental Law
The new developmental law aims at the creation of a strong framework of motives and processes to support investments (domestic and directly foreign), the broadening of activities eligible for support, and the rationalisation, the objectivity and the acceleration of the processes of assessment, monitoring and evaluation of the investment plans.
The central goal is to increase private investment, in order to ensure financial growth and a balance in regional development, to increase competitiveness and to introduce new technologies and protect the environment.

Competitiveness – Entrepreneurship OP 2007 - 2013
The Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship specialises the strategy for the strengthening of the competitiveness and outgoing entrepreneurship of the Greek economy, within the frame of a general national development strategy for the new period 2007-2013.
It is estimated that the strategy adopted and the ways of intervention defined in the Programme will have a positive impact on Greece and ensure positive developmental results for the totality of the Greek economy.
The strategy refers to the sectors of manufacturing, services, trading, consumer protection, research - technology, energy, tourism and culture. It covers, therefore, the scope of activities of the Ministry of Development, the Ministry of Tourist Development and the Ministry of Culture.
Due to the special regional provisions on “transitional support” (Attica, Southern Aegean, Central Greece, Western Macedonia and Central Macedonia), it covers these on a strategic level, but not on a financial: thus, the resources available for the Programme can be invested only in the 8 Objective 1 Regions “Convergence”, meaning that allocations for resources to Structural Funds aimed at competitiveness appear reduced, but this must include the allocations of the five transitional support regions aimed at Competitiveness actions.
The total funding for this programme will amount to 1.721 bil. Euros.

Regional Operational Programmes (ROP)
To implement the developmental planing of the country in the programme period of 2007-2013, Greece was divided into five units, corresponding to five Regional Operational Programmes, as follows:

R.P. MACEDONIA - THRACE
R.P. WESTERN GREECE – PELOPONNISOS – IONIAN ISLANDS
R.P. CRETE AND AEGEAN ISLANDS
R.P. THESSALY – CENTRAL GREECE - IPEIROS
R.P. ATTICA

The ROPs will contribute to the covering of the national strategic targets, additionally to the regional programmes, with an emphasis on the particular characteristics and the needs of each unit / Region.
